The aromatics on this wine are quite something. Lino Ramble is such an excellent producer. Citrus blossoms and pure citrus but with, as vague as this might sound, a botanical twist. Citrus oil-like notes with peppermint tossed through, the palate then showing dry pear, lime and more of those blossomy peppermint-like notes. It carries a rush of acidity but it has the weight, texture and flavour to carry it. I’m not arguing that this is a great wine but, even so, I came away enthralled. Tasted March 2022. Ned Goodwin MW: James Halliday An exuberant fiano, as expressive of candied lemon zest, sea spray, pistachio, quinine, menthol and amaro bitters, as it is idiosyncratic and complex. 80% macerated on skins before fermentation in 700L demi-muid. The remainder, barrel fermented as pressings. This sets a very different tone to the regional norm. Textural, of perfect weight and scintillating length. An intriguing drink of chew and flow.
