The finished whiskey exhibits a combination of rye spice, aged oak, and rum notes, with hints of baked fruit, lingering spice, and caramel sweetness. Tasting notes often include plantain, toasted almond, clove, coconut, and orange zest.
The base whiskey is a blend of 7-year-old Indiana rye (51% rye, 45% corn, 4% malted barley) and 17-year-old Tennessee bourbon (84% corn, 8% rye, 8% malted barley).
The blend is then aged for 23 months in Foursquare rum barrels, sourced from Foursquare Distillery in Barbados.
Bardstown Bourbon Company's Foursquare is a blended whiskey finished in Foursquare rum barrels, a collaboration between Bardstown Bourbon Company and Foursquare Rum Distillery. The whiskey is a blend of 7-year-old Indiana rye and 17-year-old Tennessee bourbon, finished in Foursquare rum casks for 23 months. This unique finishing process imparts notes of rum and spice to the whiskey.
